after summer update

It has been about 12 weeks since I last wrote a post. So I thought it is time for some updating and getting back into a weekly writing routine. It is not that I took a big vacation – on the contrary – I pretty much worked my ass off all through summer. And writing about it would have been too much. Also, a lot of projects can't or could not be published, but I will get to that.

First off: I am super excited to announce that I will be a guest lecturer at the FH Salzburg in Austria. I will do a program about branding starting in October and I am super excited to see how that feels and what the multimedia art students and I will create together. I will hopefully be able to capture and share this experience all through the winter semester.

Over the last weeks, I did a lot of branding workshops. Actually, I did 3 of them with 3 different brands and clients. Each and every workshop very different and custom built towards the needs of those brands. It is very hard to write about these project because obviously, it is not some visual outcome you can easily show off in a post like this. Also, a lot of information is confidential. Though I want to try since I figured it helps to understand what I define as good branding work and for people to get a better understanding of what I do on a daily basis.

So my true belief is, that if you know your position in the market and what you stand for as a brand, if you can offer true added value for the customer and not “only sell products”, then you are able to take those core ideas and transform them into good communication and amazing design. You will establish a honest connection with the customer without any bull****. (To break it down super simple)

A lot of brands come to a point where a lot of those things and core ideas don't seem to be up to date anymore, sometimes the focus has changed and new directions have been taken. A lot of times this also comes to light when new communication, branding, and design are needed and things feel off or don't fit any longer. So in my case, I often get on board, booked form clients directly or from partner agencies, to tackle the brands positioning. If that is set it is the perfect tool to build design packages based on these findings – no matter if it is a rebranding, a new branding, a new product line that needs an introduction or changes of communication in general.

This summer amazing studio VERSUS got me on board as a freelancer to help them with their jewelry client XENOX. We did a branding workshop – because the brand is on its way to some big evolution. Together with the team from versus we held a workshop, did an adaptation of the brand identity and did some hands-on brand implementation with the in-house team.

Austrian technology company Anyline booked me to help with their communication strategy. After 5 years in the game the company has grown up and so did their communication.

woom bikes are working on some new secret stuff that will come out later this year so we worked on the core ideas for this and will now build some communication concepts based on it.

Like I said – a little secretive. But it will slowly reveal itself over time.

Something visual I CAN show off is the album artwork for narducci. An LA-based musician and friend of mine. The CD and cassettes (yes, cassettes) will be out later in September and I will post the final product once it has arrived from America  (I will also post the link to it once it is official). Thanks to narducci and the girls vom belle & sass we created some abstract rather poetic cover – built by hand and with hardly any post-production. I am super stoked by "illustrating" with real objects and creating images like this.

I also got rid of my play section on the website and published some sort of archive. It is not quite filled yet but I hope it gives a nice little overview of the last years and the projects. I will continue to fill it and i will be more regular with the posting again.
